Position: IT Infrastructure Specialist
Location: Mountain View, CA & Los Angeles, CA

Job Duties:
• Participate in the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of applications and components
• Align engineering development requirements with the capabilities of the IT infrastructure
• Adhere to the administrative protocols that Global Operations use throughout the Product/Service life-cycle
• Participate in the design of architectures and automation that deliver against strict requirements for functionality, scalability, performance and reliability
• Become proficient in understanding how each software component, system design, and configuration is linked together to form an end-to-end solution
• Deploy and maintain Virtualization environments - VMWare
• Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.

Reports To:
Sr. Manager, Systems Management

Critical Skills:
• Configuration and maintenance of common and proprietary applications such as Apache, MySQL Tomcat, JBOSS, Coherence, IIS .NET, SSH, SNMP
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems, performance monitoring, and tuning
• Experience coding in one of the following languages: Shell, Python, Perl
• Experience working with load balancing technologies and large-scale web server farms
• A strong background in Application deployment, O/S provisioning, IP networking, service infrastructure, or software deployments
• Excellent organization skills, project tracking abilities, communications skills
• Detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to interact with multiple teams across multiple time zones

Desirable Skills:
• Familiarity with one or more monitoring systems: Cacti, Nagios and Splunk
• Ability to quickly learn and implement unfamiliar technologies
• Prior experience with configuration management & deployment systems: Altiris, Opsware or equivalent.
• Administration skills for MySQL, Oracle
• Experience with Veritas Cluster System, SAN configuration, high availability systems and load balanced systems
• Project Planning and management

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Preferred - Bachelor degree, with a technical major, such as engineering or computer science
• Four to six years system administration experience.
